I'm an Australian entrepreneur, passionate about the intersection of design, business and technology.
Ben Hamey is passionate about the intersection between technology, design and business.
He co-founded Bonobo in 2009 and since then it has become a leading iPhone and web agency that cultivates ideas and successfully takes them to market. Bonobo applications have been featured in the New York Times and CNN as well as topping the App Store charts in several countries, both paid and free. Bonobo is a self funded company and was nominated for a 2010 Webby Award.
Prior to Bonobo, Ben was Product Manager at Simmersion where he identified an opportunity to apply their unique 3D technology for the emerging virtual world space. In this role Ben co-invented patented technology (Australia granted, USA pending). He drove their business analysis, product management, marketing, business development and played a key role in capital raising of $1.9m in 2008.
Bonobo is humbled to be working with LIFX on reinventing the lightbulb.
We’d love to tell you that product development is like baking muffins but it really isn’t. At Bonobo we embrace the iterative nature of design, an agile approach to code, and a lean approach to execution. It threads us together, into who we are and how we approach creating killer products.
Bonobo is a team with a veritable Venn-diagram of skills who work hard and love what we do. To make the very best products, we’ve surrounded ourselves with a hand picked list of make-things-happen-ers from all over the world.
With over 30 apps released to date, our experience draws from a broad base of client work, collaborative partnerships, and sometimes by simply following our own noses.
Our recent successes include the “PostSecret” App, a collaboration between Bonobo and Frank Warren, letting you anonymously share and read secrets around the world. PostSecret entered the overall App Store charts at #1, remaining the top-ranked social networking app for several months. Our other favourite Bonobo apps include “iBoost - Make Your Car Sound Turbo” (#1 paid App on the Japanese Store), and Zilla, a digital dashboard modelled on the GTR (#1 Navigation App in 11 countries).
We’re proud to have developed apps with the fantastically awesome people at Roamz, ABC, Discovr Music and many more.
We work with individuals, companies and likeminded investors that share our passion for great design, innovation & brave ideas.
